We always try to keep an eye out for simple, affordable off-grid solutions that would allow someone to have scalable power without needing a PhD.
The Pecron E1500LFP solar generator seems to be a pretty good candidate ($799). (It looks like their website is currently running a sale for $599 as of 8/27/24)
Key Specs For Base Power Station:
- Total Energy: 1536Wh (Expandable to 7680Wh)
- Power Output: 2200W
- Solar Charging Input: 700W (32-95V and 15A)
Add On Expansion Battery ($899):
- Total Energy: 3072Wh (Up two two can be connected at once for a total of 7680Wh)
- Solar Charging Input: 400W (The total system can accept 1100W of solar when paired with the E1500LFP)
You can charge the system with either the Pecron solar panels or any combo of other, cheaper panels that match the required specs in the manuals.
This system would be good for someone who needs a basic power supply when first going to their land (to run saws, fans, lights… etc). They could then add extra batteries and solar charging ability as their budget permits. With the full 7680Wh capability, it would be possible to run a small 500W window AC overnight along with lights and other small accessories. If you eventually scale up to a much larger solar setup, you could still use this one as a backup, as a mobile unit or to run some stand alone appliances (or a small shed/workshop). The device is rated to retain 80% of it’s capacity after 3500 charge cycles so it should last a fairly long time.
